Foreign Investment Lured to Build New Economic Belts

Foreign investors are encouraged to invest in the areas along the coast, railway lines and the Taihang Mountains in north China's Hebei Province, said an official from the Hebei provincial government recently.

He said, in the coming years Hebei Province will build two berths each with an annual handling capability of 3.8 million tons, which will need 98.8 million U.S. dollars of investment, 48.41 million U.S. dollars of which is expected to come from overseas.

The Hebei provincial government also wishes foreign investment to come to the construction of roads and railways, including the Beijing-Baotou railway, Handan-Jinan railway, Shijiazhuang- Huanghua expressway, and Beijing-Zhangjiakou expressway.

Foreign investment is also expected to strengthen infrastructure construction and ecology in the poverty-stricken areas in Hebei Province.
