China Stays World Third Shipping Exporter

Since 1996 China has been stayed world third in shipping export, next only to ROK and Japan, as is known from a forum on China's shipping trade development opened in Beijing June 28.

In 2000 China's exports valued US$1.43bn, accounting for 5 and 6 percent of world total in amount and tonnage respectively. Shipping has become a pillar industry for the nation and a mainstay on international markets.

Since reform and opening up in the 80s, China's shipping industry has been expanding international markets by continuously upgrading exports structure, to a tonnage of 300,000 as it has been now developed. The ship exports developed range from ordinary ones to hi-tech wresting a high value.

China's shipping exports have covered near 80 countries and regions, including navigation and ship making powers as Greece, Norway, the US, UK, Japan, ROK, Germany, Denmark, Poland and Italy, of which over 60 percent are developed countries or regions.
