Glorious CPC History, Successful Communism Practice: Russian ScholarEighty years from its founding in 1921, the CPC has now become the largest and the most influential party in the world, Mikhail Titarenko, chairman of the Russia-China Friendship Association and head of the Russian Science Academy's Far East Research Institute, said at a meeting held here to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the CPC. In particular, he noted, over the past 23 years, the CPC has carried out a successful policy of reform and opening-up, thanks to which China has achieved sustained and steady economic growth and the Chinese people have lived a better life. He said the Russian people are very pleased to see the CPC and the Chinese people's illustrious progress. The Russian people are now earnestly looking forward to Chinese President Jiang Zemin's historic state visit to Russia in July, Titarenko said. The vital landmark documents to be signed during Jiang's visit will provide a firm guarantee not only for consolidating bilateral relations, but also for preserving peace and security in Asia and in the world as a whole. He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people will make even greater progress in every field, and that with the joint efforts of both countries, the friendship and cooperation between Russia and China will last forever. Hundreds of Russia-China Friendship Association members, Russian experts, scholars, veterans and leading activists attended the meeting.
