Beijing Marks CPC 80th Anniversary

A grand conference was held Thursday in the Chinese capital, Beijing, to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

A total of 58 model grassroots organizations of CPC, 101 model CPC members and 56 model Party workers attended the conference.

Jia Qinglin, secretary of the Beijing municipal CPC committee, made a speech on the occasion and recalled the enormous changes that have taken place in Beijing over the past 50 years under the leadership of the CPC.

He stressed that the great changes in Beijing and the happy life enjoyed by its citizens would be impossible without the leadership of the Party.

In the new century, the leadership of the Party will continue to be vital for China to push ahead with its socialist modernization cause, attain the reunification of the motherland, maintain world peace and promote mutual development of all countries, Jia said.

He called on the 1.24 million Party members in Beijing to keep a high morale and sharpen their skills to serve the people and contribute to the reform, development and stability of the city.
