Macao, Portugal to Cooperate More Closely

China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Portugal are expected to cooperate more closely in the fields of education, public health and sports, said an SAR government official.

Chui Sai On, secretary for social affairs and culture of the SAR, told the press that he will sign agreements in the sectors with the Portuguese side, when he left here Thursday to visit the country.

Both sides will enhance cooperation in the fields of public health service among communities, prevention and control of disease, medical training, sports events, training for athletes and academic and cultural exchanges, he said.

Chui went to Portugal at the invitation of Portuguese State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Luis Amado. He plans to meet Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio over the three-day visit.
