China-Donated Satellite Receiver Operates in Kenya

China Provides Aid to Kenya
A China-donated set of equipment to receive satellite signals has recently been fixed and put into operation in the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) based in Nairobi.

The equipment, worth 60,000 U.S. dollars, will enable KBC to receive programs from the China Central Television Station (CCTV) as well as those from China Radio International via Panam 4 satellite.

The donation was made in May this year when Xu Guangchun, China 's director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, visited Kenya.

At a ceremony held on Monday to inaugurate the operation, KBC Managing Director Joe Khamisi said that KBC will broadcast some of the programs of CCTV, and he believed that Kenyans will have a better understanding of China and its people through these programs.
