Top Legislator Writes Inscription for Patriotic Websites

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), has written an inscription for two newly-opened local websites that are focused on creating patriotism among local web-surfers.

Li's inscription reads, "Inherit the will of the martyrs, display the revolutionary traditions, and work and strive hard for rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation."

The websites, which were put into operation Thursday, are "www. china1840-1949.net.cn" and "www.chinaspirit.net.cn", with the former focusing on the history of Chinese people's fights against foreign invaders and domestic enemies.

The websites were jointly established by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League and three other central institutions.

Local middle school students, who number more than three million, are expected to surf the two on-line museums to commemorate revolutionary martyrs in various forms and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China which falls on July 1.
