Chinese Communist Party's Achievements Hailed
Farouk Dahrouj, general secretary of the Lebanese Communist Party, on Wednesday hailed achievements scored by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people under its leadership.
On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, which falls on July 1, Dahrouj said that since its founding in 1921, the CPC has led the Chinese people to accomplish liberation, founding of the people's republic and improvement of people's living standards.
"The 80-year history has proven that the CPC represents the interests of the Chinese people, because it knows how to develop a country on varying stages," he said.
He also expressed the belief that China will continue to build socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Hailing China's fast-growing economy, Dahrouj, who visited China in 1997, said that China has successfully solved a number of problems, and achieved a rapid economic growth thanks to 20 years of opening up and reform.
"It is really a miracle in the world," he said.
"I was surprised to see for myself China's achievements in agricultural and industrial areas," he said, adding that Lebanon benefits a lot from China's development.
On relationship between the two communist parties, Dahrouj said exchanges between them at various levels have been constant since the founding of the Lebanese Communist Party in 1924.
"Although our party with 10,000 members in Lebanon is small, the contacts have been conducted on an equal footing," he said.
"We appreciate China's just position in regional and world affairs, and support its fight against hegemony and efforts to safeguard legitimate rights and interests," he said.
