Jiang Zemin Writes Inscription for Birthplace of Song
Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Jiang Zemin recently wrote an inscription for a local village, the birthplace of "Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China," one of the most popular songs in China.
Jiang's inscription is same as the title of the song, "Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China."
In October 1943, Cao Huoxing, a member of an anti-Japanese publicity squad, came to the village, Tangshang Village, and wrote the words to the song, which was then titled "Without the Communist Party, there would be no China," based on the musical structure of a local folk song.
In 1950, late Chinese leader Mao Zedong changed its title to " Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China," so as to indicate the achievements of the CPC in a more precise way.
The local CPC committee of Fangshan District, Beijing, where the village is located, now plans to build the village into a permanent base for education in patriotism.
