Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao met Wednesday with Moussa Solano, minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security of Guinea.

Hu, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that Guinea was the first sub-Saharan country in Africa to forge diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China.

Sino-Guinea relations have maintained healthy and stable development over a long period, and bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and military fields is fruitful, he added.

He expressed gratitude for the support of the Guinean government on the Taiwan issue and in dealing with international affairs.

Hu noted that China values the Sino-Guinea traditional friendship and has attached importance to developing friendly relations with all African nations including Guinea.

China is ready to work with Guinea to promote bilateral ties of mutual trust and all-round cooperation.

Solano spoke highly of the friendly relations between the two states and armed forces, and thanked China for support and aid toward Guinea since the national independent movement was initiated in Africa.

He voiced the hope of furthering exchange and cooperation between Guinea and China in the new century, and reaffirmed that the Guinean government is committed to the One-China policy and supports China's reunification cause.
