Ningxia Police Strike Hard on Drug Trafficking

Police of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, northwest China, have stepped up their efforts to crack down on activities involving drug trafficking.

Sources with the regional public security department said local police have cracked a total of 1,359 cases involving drug trafficking since the beginning of the year, arrested 1,667 people involved with the cases and confiscated 2,416 grams of heroin.

At a public judgment rally on June 19, four criminals were sentenced to death and one was sentenced to life imprisonment for trafficking in drugs.
