Top Advisory Body Meeting in Beijing

Top Advisory Body Meeting in Beijing
The Standing Committee of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its 14th meeting in Beijing Tuesday.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the top advisory body, attended the meeting, which will seek to improve its role in reflecting grassroots voices, political consultation and democratic supervision during four days of deliberation.

Ye Xuanping, CPPCC vice-chairman, delivered a keynote speech at Tuesday's meeting.

Noting that the CPPCC had attained remarkable achievements in reflecting popular sentiments over recent years, Ye added that what the CPPCC has done could still hardly meet the needs of the situation.

He urged the advisory body to give greater priority to the job, take measures to stir up the enthusiasm of its members, further perfect relevant regulations and systems, and strengthen the organization and staff team.

He expressed the hope that the meeting will find new ways and ideas to improve CPPCC's job to a new level as the topic is concerned.
