Anhui to Popularize IT Education in Middle Schools

East China's Anhui Province has started to popularize information technology education in middle and primary schools, and has already set a schedule to push forward Information Technology(IT) education, said an official from the Provincial Education Department recently.

All senior high schools and some primary and junior high schools will open IT courses from the new semester in autumn. Information Technology courses must be a compulsory one among all schools which have the course.

By the beginning of the fall semester in 2005, all high schools and primary schools in cities and counties in Anhui must have an IT course, and some of the other schools can open an IT course according to their actual situations.

Anhui also set a long-term IT education goal: by 2010, 90 percent of the primary and middle schools in the province should have Internet equipment.
