Iranian Cultural Week Marks 30 Years of Sino-Iranian Ties

The "Iranian Cultural Week" was inaugurated at China National Museum of Fine Arts here Tuesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Iranian diplomatic relations.

A highlight of the cultural week is an exhibition on Iranian arts, a collection of traditional Iranian paintings, oil paintings, handicrafts and different versions of the Iranian national epic poetry, the Shahnameh.

Senior Chinese officials from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the opening ceremony, along with representatives from the literary and art circles. Iranian Ambassador to China Mohammad Hossein Malaek and diplomatic envoys from some west Asian and African countries were also present on the occasion.

Sino-Iranian friendship dates back to the ancient times, and bilateral relations have continued to go in-depth since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1971. Cultural exchanges have played a major role in enhancing friendship and communication between the two sides.

Co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the Iranian Embassy in China, the event will be held in Shanghai later this week.
