Preparation Work for Shanghai Int'l Art Festival Starts
Preparation work for the Third Shanghai International Art Festival has started, announced the festival organizing committee recently.
Up to now, about 55 programs have applied for the art festival, 36 of which are from foreign countries. An official from the organizing committee said Shanghai residents will have abundant chances to appreciate these performances during the festival period.
The opening ceremony of the art festival is named "Elite China, " which will represent the highest level of China's art. Piano competition, ballet performances and Beijing opera will add various colors to the art festival.
Besides performances, domestic and overseas artwork will be exhibited at the art exposition, which will provide 572 booths.
Deputy Director of the Festival Committee Gong Xueping said Shanghai is trying to make its festival internationally famous within three to five years.
