China Peking Opera Grand Theater to be Put upAs recently learnt from China National Peking Opera Troupe China Peking Opera Grand Theatre is to be constructed. The Theater is designed to contain 1,200 seating capacity.The preparation work has been started. Wu Jiang, president of China National Peking Opera Troupe, told the journalist during an interview "the blueprint has been brought out and we are waiting for the approval by Beijing Urban Planning Committee". As sources say, China Peking Opera Grand Theater will be put up in the golden sector at the intersection of Ping'an Avenue and western Second Ring Road. The theater will cover an area of 100,000 square meters. The investment of the whole project is estimated to reach 800 million-yuan. Zhao Shucheng, vice president of China National Peking Opera Troupe in charge especially of infrastructure construction said that the Grand Theater is aiming at professional Peking Opera performance. The display of pictures, sculptures and embosksments of the Peking Opera history are to be set up outside the Theater. Besides, there will be an exhibition focusing on the costumes, paraphernalia and stage properties ever used by some famous artists in their stage life. The designer of the Grand Theater Yang Guofu said, "China Peking Opera Grand Theater aims to serve Peking Opera performance. For instance, instead of the band seats which are usually set up right in front of the main stage, China Peking Opera Grand Theater has its orchestra seats constructed by the side-front of the stage." Yang deems that the design of boxes on the second floor is the epitome of the theater, saying "we have a quite strict requirement on the vision angles and comfortableness of them. To ensure a high quality of appreciation, we only have a dozen of boxes here". Person in charge of the investors told the journalist that the whole project will involve an investment of 800 million yuan provided the Municipal Committee approves the design.
