Japan's ASDF Fighter Mistakenly Hits Parking Vehicles in Drill

An F-4 fighter plane of Japan's Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) on Monday mistakenly hit vehicles near a rehabilitation center in Hokkaido during a drill but caused no injuries, Kyodo news reported.

The 20-millimeter machine gun rounds, fired by the fighter, hit vehicles in the parking lot of the rehabilitation center in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido, at around 10:55 a.m. (local time), police said.

Witnesses saw a flash of light outside the window and heard crunching sounds before a plane passed overhead, officials at the center said.

The F-4 belongs to an ASDF wing stationed in Naha, Okinawa, which was on a military drill at a range of the Ground Self-Defense Force in Hokkaido.
