Zhu Rongji Meets Former US National Security AdviserChinese Premier Zhu Rongji met with former US National Security Adviser Samuel Berger Monday afternoon.By press time, both sides are exchanging views on the Sino-US relations and other issues of shared concern. Berger, who arrived here Saturday as guest of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, will also visit the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. Vice-premier Meets BergerChinese Vice-premier Qian Qichen met Monday with Samuel Berger, former national security adviser of the United States, and exchanged views with him on Sino-U.S. relations and other issues of common concern.Qian welcomed Berger and his party and expressed appreciation for Berger's efforts in improving the Sino-U.S. relations. He also briefed the visitors on China's economic construction, the development of western areas and policies on the country's reunification. Berger stressed that U.S.-China relations are of great significance and both sides should make concerted efforts for the improvement and development of such a relationship, adding that he would continue to make efforts to this end.
