China to Build Orange Museum

China's first orange museum is expected to open to visitors this October.

The museum will be located in the Shimen County in Hunan Province. Shimen has always been a place teeming with oranges and an "orange festival" is going to be held there in October.

China is the first country in the world to plant orange trees. According to historical records, orange tree planting in China can be traced back to some 3,000 years ago.

According to a local source, the museum will have about 1,000 different kinds of orange trees and relevant books, pictures and exhibitions on oranges.

The orange festival will be sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and the provincial government of Hunan.
