Shaanxi History Museum Attracts 7 Million Visitors
The History Museum of Shaanxi Province, the first state modern museum in China, received 7 million visitors over the past decade including 1.2 million foreigners and 60 heads of state in other parts of the world.
Exhibits at the museum have been shown in Japan, the United States, France and Germany on 10 occasions, the museum curator said on its 10th opening anniversary.
As a birthplace of the Chinese ancient culture, 13 dynasties once set up capitals in Shaanxi. The historical and cultural sites in Shaanxi are known all over the world. The terra-cotta warriors of the Mausoleum of emperor Shihuangdi (Qinshihuang) is the most famous one, which is regarded as "the eighth wonder of the world." Others include the Famen Temple, Yangling Mausoleum of the Han dynasty and Banpo Museum.
The Shaanxi Museum collects 375,000 cultural relics, including 762 pieces under top government protection and 18 state treasures, which are put in well-equipped exhibition halls.
