At the workshop, the participants expressed their profound feelings for the CPC and warmly praised the Party for its great achievements in China's revolution and construction over the past 80 years. Also on Saturday, leaders of dozens of local publishing houses in this national capital gathered here to hold a workshop to mark the same event. The meeting was sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP). In his speech, GAPP Director Shi Zongyuan emphasized that the press and publishing sector of New China has developed under the profound care of the three generation central leaderships with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin at the core, respectively. On the same day, a group of painters and calligraphers from across the country, who have been here to compete in a calligraphic and painting contest, titled "The Party is in Our Minds", wrote or drew on an 80-m-long sheet of paper to express their feelings for the forthcoming anniversary of the Party.
