Pakistan President and Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf has invited politicians representing all leading political parties for a consultative meeting on June 27, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported on Saturday.

APP quoted official sources as reporting that by doing so General Musharraf is in pursuance of his announcement to consult representatives from important segments of the society prior to his visit to India

"The invitation has been reportedly sent on behalf of the government by the chief of protocol," the sources said.

All together there are 24 politicians are invited. They include former President Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari, former Prime Minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, former leaders of the Senate and the National Assembly and leaders of major political parties.

"The meeting is likely to span over 2-3 hours and will be followed by lunch to be hosted by the president for the politicians," the sources said.

General Pervez Musharraf will also hold separate consultative meetings with the Ulema and Mashaikh (Religious Scholars) and senior editors of the national press, the sources added.
