Suspected Bin Laden Associate Arrested by Spanish Police

Spanish police on Friday arrested a suspected accomplice of international terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.

The suspect, named Mohammed Bensakhria, was from Algeria and arrested in Alicante, southeastern Spain, Interior Minister Mariano Rajoy said.

Since December, when Bensakharia escaped from Germany after many Islamic militants were arrested, Spain's police has been looking for him, who is believed to be the head of the Meliani commando.

The Meliani commando was part of the Al Qaida structure, which is the operational wing of bin Laden's international terrorist organization.

Saudi-born Bin Laden, who sought heaven with Afghanistan Talibans, is accused of masterminding the August 7, 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa that cost the lives of 224 people. For this reason Washington issued a reward for information leading to the terrorist leader.
