India Arrests 4th Man in Embassy Bombing Plot

Indian police said on Friday they had arrested a fourth man on suspicion of involvement with a group linked to Saudi fugitive Osama bin Laden which they believe was planning to bomb the U.S. embassies in India and Bangladesh.

Three men were arrested last week following a tip-off about a possible attack on the U.S. embassy in New Delhi two months ago, police said.

A senior Delhi police official told Reuters that the man had been arrested on Thursday in the eastern city of Patna and was being brought to Delhi for questioning.

The plot was believed to involve driving "an explosive-laden car to the American embassy in Delhi", the police officer, who did not wish to be identified, told Reuters.

The three men arrested last week included a Sudanese citizen and an Indian associate. The nationality of the third and fourth suspects was not immediately clear.
