U.S. City Presents Books to Beijing LibraryThe U.S. city of Pasadena presented 500 books Thursday afternoon to the public library of the West District of Beijing, the Chinese capital.Pasadena, the hometown of General George S. Patton, is a sister town of the West District. It is located near Los Angeles in California. The library was built in the 1950s and its 10,000-sq-m new hall opened for the public in 1999 with 300,000 books. The books presented by the city include encyclopedias, history and geography books, and biographies. Professor Jinny Hering, a member of Pasadena's sister-town committee, and her colleagues visited the library and praised its multi-media services, which include written and pictorial information, online audio and video, three-dimension animation, Midi and other services. |
