Chinese Kongfu to Fight Japanese Karate

Chinese Kongfu and Japanese karate will contend for supremacy. This is the contest held for the first time after the founding of the People's Republic of China. "Chinese Kongfu Vs Japanese Karate Martial Contest" will be held in Langfang Gymnasium, Hebei Province on July 3.

The Contest which enjoys great attention is jointly sponsored by Martial Art Management Center of China's State Sport General Administration, Chinese Wushu Association and Langfang Broadcast and TV Bureau and co-handled by Langfang TV Station and Chinese Kungfu Super-Star Challenge Management Committee.

As sources say, the Challenge will include four matches. The two sides of the four matches are respectively: Chinese 65-kg Cui Chen Vs Japanese Karate middleweight champion Akihiko Hasegawa, Chinese 70-kg Zhu Jiandong Vs Masato Kitade, Chinese 75-kg Zhang Zhen Vs third-grade master, Japanese Karate lightweight runner-up Masaaki Watanabe and Chinese 80-kg Xue Fengqiang Vs Japanese Karate heavyweight champion Shinichiro Hamamatsu .

About Chinese 128 TV stations from all over the country, including those of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will have live TV transmission or record the program for later broadcasting.



Chinese Kongfu is a kind of physical fitness exercises developed in ancient China as early as 2,500 years ago, when medical practioners and philosophers recognizes the therapeutic benefits of controlled breathing and physical movements. Today, in China and the West, millions of people are deriving immediate and lasting results from tajiquan (tai chi chuan), qigong, the most popular forms of traditional execises, and their combination taiji tigong.
