HK to Set Up Research Fund to Enhance Construction Quality
A research fund to promote research activities about enhancing construction quality and sustainability of public housing development will be set up in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) later this year.
A spokesman for the SAR's Housing Authority said Thursday that the 20 million HK dollars (2.56 million U.S. dollars) Housing Authority Research Fund was supported by Academic institutes, professional institutes and associations, and contractors' associations of major construction trades.
"Applications for research will be invited in the third quarter of 2001, followed by selection and approval procedures. Research projects could then be commissioned by the end of the year," the spokesman said.
