Netease Declares to End Merger Negotiation and Stop Merger Seeking at Present

Netease (www.163.com) Wednesday formally confirmed that it did have underground negotiations with some companies including Hong Kong Broadband Network Ltd. on a merger of its stocks and assets. However, the negotiation failed to reach any agreement in the end.

Netease pointed out that at present it has no plan to conduct any talk with other companies. But there is still the possibility for Netease to evaluate other strategic cooperation.

Ding Lei, CEO, acting COO and president of Netease, denoted, "the board of directors will come to a decision after thorough consideration. Netease will no longer seek for merger for the moment for it will benefit the company and investors."
