Photo Exhibition to Mark CPC's Anniversary Opens

A photo exhibition to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), at the Museum of the Chinese Revolution, in downtown Beijing, opened Wednesday.

General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Jiang Zemin wrote an inscription for the exhibition, while Hu Jintao and Wei Jianxing, both members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, attended the opening ceremony.

Also present at the opening were Ding Guangen, who announced the opening of the exhibition, Zhang Wannian, Luo Gan, Jia Qinglin, Wen Jiabao, Zeng Qinghong, Buhe and Ren Jianxin.

Vice President Hu Jintao made a speech and congratulated the opening of the photo show on behalf of the CPC Central Committee. He called the founding of the CPC in 1921 one of the greatest events since the beginning of China's history.

History shows that the CPC has always represented the development requirements of China's advanced social productive forces, the progressive course of China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people, Hu said, adding that the CPC has lived up to its reputation as a great, glorious and correct party.

Only the CPC could have led the Chinese people to win national independence, people's liberation and the victory of socialism, to open up and develop a socialist road with Chinese characteristics, and to realize the prosperity of the country, rejuvenation of the nation, and happiness of the people, he stressed.

The exhibition illustrates, with photos and objects, the splendid achievements made by the whole Party and the Chinese people under the three generation leaderships with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin at the core, respectively, said Hu.

The show is sponsored by eight units including several CPC Central Committee departments and the municipal CPC committee of Beijing.
