Microsoft Issues Latest Chinese Edition of Office Software

The world largest software producer Microsoft formally launched the Chinese edition of Office XP, its latest office software, in Beijing, June 19.

This suite of software will include Office XP standard, Office XP professional, Office XP business and Office XP developer.

Microsoft office software, since its initial issuance in 1991, so far has more than 250 million registered users. In China, it has more than 10 million business users. More than 90 percent of the users choose the products as their office software solutions. The number of users might be much larger when should piratical sets be counted in.

In this case, Microsoft, in order to solidify its market share and attract more users in China, stresses on the localization for Chinese people at the products release conference of Office XP claimed as the most important edition of Office series in its history.

Web integration is a common theme running throughout Office XP. Furthermore, as an upgrade, Office XP, which stands for "experience", introduces fewer problems than Office 2000, and corporations that stayed with Office 97 may be attracted by this highly compatible upgrade, said Dr. Gao Yaoqun, general manager of Microsoft China.

Gao said that this product is by no means simply a Chinese version of the English edition, instead it not only contains all the functions of the English edition, but also is equipped with additional features for Chinese users like the super-large bank of 64,000 Chinese characters. Besides, it has non-patter input interface, brand-new Chinese handwriting and speech recognition as well as a dictionary of Chinese and English with a big vocabulary of 150,000 words.

It's reported that Microsoft will launch a series of promotion activity in Shanghai and Guangzhou later amid expectations of more rewards from the huge market.
