Vietnam Hopes to Strengthen Scientific Cooperation With ChinaVietnam hopes to further strengthen cooperation in the field of science and technology with China, said a senior Vietnamese official.Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem made the remarks Tuesday when meeting a delegation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences led by its president Lu Yongxiang. The visit to Vietnam by the Chinese delegation embodies the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, Khiem said. China has achieved a great success in the field of science and technology, he said, adding that the scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries has vast prospects. The two countries should further strengthen cooperation not only in the field of economy and culture but also in science and technology, Khiem stressed. He also expressed his hope that China will help Vietnam develop ecological agriculture and train Vietnamese scientific and technological personnel. The Vietnamese government always encouraged its scientists to learn from their Chinese counterparts, aiming to promote the exchange and cooperation between China and Vietnam, Khiem added. During the meeting, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Lu Yongxiang said that the China-Vietnam comprehensive cooperation relationship consists of the exchange and cooperation in the field of science and technology under the principle guiding development of bilateral relationship in the 21st century, namely "long term stability, orientation towards the future, good-neighborliness and friendship, and all round cooperation" set by leaders of the two countries. He expressed his hope that the two countries will carry out the exchange and cooperation in the fields of scientific and technological personnel, scientific and technological seminars, training of scientific and technological personnel, science and technology management and scientific system. The delegation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences arrived here on Monday, starting a goodwill visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the National Center for Natural Science And Technology of Vietnam. The Chinese delegation is scheduled to conclude its visit to Vietnam on Friday. |
