Li Peng Joins Chorus of Staff of NPC Standing Committee

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), joined his office workers in singing at the end of a concert held in the Great Hall of the People Tuesday, to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Eleven of his deputies also joined the 700-strong chorus to sing a well-known Chinese song called "The New China Would Be Nonexistent Without the Communist Party".

Li also made an address recalling the history of the CPC and urging the staff of the NPC Standing Committee to remember the Party's principles and make contribution to building China into a modern socialist country.

During the concert, titled "The Party Is in My Heart", the chorus, made up of the staff of the NPC Standing Committee, sang a number of songs to hail the CPC and China's socialist cause.
