President Jiang Writes Inscription for Photo Show Marks CPC's Anniversary

President Jiang Zemin, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has written an inscription for a photo exhibition on the history of the CPC, which reads, "Shoulder the Aspirations of the People."

The photo show, which will open to the public Wednesday, is sponsored by eight central units.

The exhibition is composed of three parts with photos illustrating what the Party has achieved during three different periods in its history.

The first part shows how the Party came into being and how it led the Chinese people to fight against the Kuomintang regime and Japanese imperialism, and founded the People's Republic in 1949.

The second part depicts how the first-generation leadership led by Mao Zedong built socialism, defying challenges from international enemies.

The third part is about the reform and opening drive under the second-generation leadership headed by Deng Xiaoping and the third-generation leadership with Jiang Zemin at the core.
