Beijing Has Three Jobs Ahead before Final Voting: Liu JingminBeijing still has three major jobs to do before IOC's voting, said Liu Jingmin, vice mayor of Beijing and also vice managing chairman of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee, at a meeting on June 18. Scientists from China's top science and technology bodies voiced their firm supports to the city's 2008 bid.First of all, it is to prepare for the final presentation delivered at the plenary session of IOC to be held in Moscow, which is the last "compulsory exercise" for the five candidate cities and the most important one Beijing is facing. The presentation includes speech, TV plays and multi-media show. Now the speech draft is being polished and the on-the-spot rehearsal will be conducted soon. The second is to do things practical for the benefit of citizens in Beijing. Liu says the Olympic bidding is linked up with the improvement of people's life quality. The government has been carrying out more than 40 projects in regard with air pollution control, road construction, city environment and cultural development. The third is to further intensify publicity to foreign countries. Liu says Beijing will abide by relevant IOC regulations and introduce Beijing to the international community via various channels the enthusiasm and confidence of the Chinese people in the Olympic bidding.
