Premier Zhu Rongji met Tuesday with Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed al Nahyan, minister of Information and Culture for the United Arab Emirates.

Zhu said China treasures its friendly relations with the United Arab Emirates, and is satisfied with the development of their relations in economic and other areas.

Zhu said the Chinese Government supports the exchanges in press, culture and other areas because such exchanges will help increase understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

Abdullah said his country has paid great attention to developing relations with China and it hopes to expand bilateral cooperation with China in political, economic and cultural areas.
