60% Hangzhou Residents not to Buy Car: Survey

Nearly 60 percent of the residents in Hangzhou City, the Capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, say that they will not buy a car even if they can afford, according to a survey conducted recently.

The survey conducted by the Urban Planning Office of Hangzhou City shows that about 43 percent people choose the bicycle as their traffic means, 22 percent prefer the bus, while 28 percent choose to walk on foot. Only 0.75 percent people drive their own cars as the transport means.

As for what the best choice of transport, of the 6,000 families surveyed, 70 percent regard the bicycle and bus as the most desirable transport means, while 20 percent list the car as their first choice.

Now there are 4.8 cars for every 1,000 Hangzhou residents.
