US President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday met with Japanese Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka in a sign to stress US commitment to relations with Japan.
"The president told her that he is looking forward to the visit on June 30 at Camp David of the new Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters at regular news briefing.
"Bush said he hopes to discuss a wide range of issues, including U.S.-Japanese security, the Kyoto pact on global warming, and U.S. relations with Russia, and asked me to convey this to the prime minister," Tanaka said after the meeting.
