The Second International Motorcycle Festival, Asia's largest motorcycle event, opened on June 16 in Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, attracting over 1,500 motorcycle riders and enthusiasts at home and abroad.
Motorcycle contests, exhibitions and tourism activities will be held during the six-day festival. More than 20 Chinese and foreign motorcycle manufacturers brought their new models and products.
With the launching of the annual event, the local government is working to turn Yinchuan into a national base for motorcycle contests, new model testing, motorcycle-related tourism and motorcycle sales center, organizers said.
China now produce 11 million motorcycles a year, accounting for half of the world's total annual production. There are currently about 50 million motorcycle owners in the country.
