Tianjin Medical University Celebrates 50th Anniversary
The Tianjin Medical University, the first medical institute of higher learning set up after the founding of the People's Republic of China, celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 16.
Li Ruihuan, a member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, congratulated the university with an inscription that reads, "Develop medical education and improve the level of the people's health."
As part of the celebration, a university presidents' forum was launched on June 15, attracting presidents from 13 universities and 20 medical schools from six countries.
The Tianjin Medical University has trained 23,000 medical professionals over the past 50 years and successfully built itself into a large-scale medical school with complete medical research facilities, said its president Hao Xishan.
