AN-124 Arrives Hainan to Dismantle EP-3: Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman

An "AN-124" cargo plane landed at the Lingshui Airport in China's southernmost Hainan Province Saturday morning, carrying equipment for dismantling and loading the US EP-3 reconnaissance plane, China's Foreign Ministry has confirmed.

This is in line with the agreement reached between the Chinese and the US sides, and dismantling and loading of the EP-3 has started, spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said in response to a relevant question raised by a journalist.

The EP-3 has been on Hainan Island since it made an emergency landing there April 1 after ramming into and destroyed a Chinese fighter jet.
