Senegalese President to Attend Lusaka OAU Summit

Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade has confirmed his participation in the 37th summit of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), scheduled to take place here from July 9 to 11, the Zambia Information Services said in a press release on Friday.

This brings to seven the number of heads of state who have confirmed their participation in the annual summit after the earlier confirmation by heads of state of Libya, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Angola and Botswana.

During the Lusaka summit, the OAU will be transformed into the African Union (AU), which is eventually due to consist of an executive, a central bank, a monetary fund, a parliament and a court of justice.
