Red Cross Repatriates 1,121 Ethiopians From Eritrea

A total of 1,121 Ethiopians have left Eritrea for home under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the ICRC resident office said Friday.

The repatriation was carried out between the Eritrean town of Adi Quala and Ethiopian town of Rama via the Mereb river, added the ICRC in a release.

Ahead of the repatriation, the ICRC delegates in Eritrea held private interviews with the Ethiopian nationals to check their wish to return to their motherland.

The ICRC since last December has repatriated more than 19,200 Ethiopians from Eritrea, and it would continue to assist future repatriations of all remaining Prisoners of War as well as other war-affected persons in the two countries.
