SCO Establishment Has Far-reaching Impact: Jiang

Chinese President Jiang Zemin said Friday that the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has a far-reaching impact on ensuring regional security and pushing forward world multi- polarization.

After signing the declaration of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which consists of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, President Jiang said to the press that the SCO's establishment conforms with the current trends of peace and development and meets basic interests of the six countries' people.

The SCO summit was a complete success for regional cooperation and joint crackdown on terrorism, separatism and extremism, Jiang said.

New Chapter

President said that the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) unveils a new chapter for friendly relations of the six member states.

Jiang said that while cooperating in fighting against terrorism, separatism and extremism, members of the organization will also try to make trade and investment more convenient among the six signing countries, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Jiang said that the six good neighbors will make further contribution to peace, development and prosperity of the human society.
