CNOOC Plans to Extract 47-58 Oil Wells in 2001

Ru Ke, vice president of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) told June 12 that the corporation is going to drill 47-58 offshore oil wells in 2001. Of these, 20 will be done independently by the corporation itself, the other 27-38 to be cooperated with foreign counterparts. Up till now, they have succeeded in the extraction of six oil wells in cooperation with its foreign partners. But great discovery has been made in two oil wells located in the Pearl River Basin on the east of the South China Sea, i. e., the first discovery made by the corporation of oil-well to the north of the Guizhou Depression. He added that CNOOC would continue to prospect in this area.

By the end of last year, CNOOC confirmed that the oil reserve there came to 1.8 billion barrels, namely, 239337 barrels per day.
