Ukrainian Prime Minister Meets China's Central Bank ChiefUkrainian Prime Minister Anatoly Kinakh met Thursday in Kiev with China's central bank governor Dai Xianglong, who arrived for an official visit at the invitation of Ukraine's National Bank.Recalling his two visits to China as an entrepreneur, Kinakh spoke highly of what China has achieved in economic reform and opening-up to the outside world in the past two decades. The new Ukrainian prime minister, who took office late last month, said Ukraine is currently carrying out economic reforms, including financial structural reform, and hopes to learn from China in this regard. Kinakh said Ukraine's domestic economy has been developing rapidly in the first five months of this year, adding that Ukraine 's industrial output grew 18.8 percent and inflation stood at only 4.7 percent in the period. He said he hoped for closer economic ties between Ukraine and China. "The current bilateral trade level did not mirror the real potential for cooperation," he said. Dai briefed Kinakh on the ongoing economic and financial reforms in China, saying that China's central bank as well as commercial banks always support Chinese enterprises to develop trading and economic ties with Ukraine. "China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in international financial affairs," he said. The Chinese central bank chief earlier held talks with leaders of Ukraine's National Bank on financial cooperation and other issues of common concern.
