He made the remarks in a meeting with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) led by Li Shuzheng, a member of the NPC Standing Committee and Vice-Chairman of the NPC's Foreign Affairs Committee.

Hunt noted that recent years have seen the exchange of frequent visits between New Zealand and Chinese leaders, and the two countries have been very active in developing ties in the economy, trade, education, culture and tourism.

New Zealand, he added, will join China in furthering bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Li Shuzheng expressed her satisfaction with the growth of China- New Zealand relations.

Also on Thursday, the Chinese delegation called on New Zealand Minister for Disarmament and Arms Control Matt Robson, and leaders of political parties in the Parliament.
