Suharto Has Pacemaker Implanted

Surgeons implanted a pacemaker in former dictator Suharto on Wednesday, a day after he was brought to the hospital with low blood pressure and an irregular heart beat. Doctors at Jakarta's state-run Pertamina Hospital said the 30-minute procedure was a success and that the 80-year-old former president was in stable condition.

Suharto ruled Indonesia with an iron fist for 32 years before he was forced from office in 1998 amid riots and pro-democracy protests.
