Textile & Garment Expo Shows 30% Growth of Deal

The 2001 Chinese Textiles and Garments Exposition which was held in New York from June 6 - 8 had seen considerable achievement to show a 30 percent deal growth over that of last year.

General manager of the Fully Youthful Enterprises, one of the three joint hosts of this expo, showed that the three-day exposition had achieved nearly a US$0.7bn transaction amount, including over US$0.23 billion of business volume and over US$0.4 billion of intention. The actual deal of this exposition is 30 percent higher than that of last year, setting a new record high of Sino-US textile and garment expositions in the past 20 years.

While affirming the achievement of this expo, most Chinese companies and their American peers attending the expo complained of the three-day arrangement as too short. In view of this, the US host unit has decided to prolong it to four days next year to the satisfaction of both Chinese and American participants.
