HKPC Launches Designers Gallery to Promote Design Creativity

The TechMart of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) opened Thursday its Designers Gallery to promote design creativity and innovation to local industries.

Set up by HKPC and the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA), the gallery features the latest design projects from members of the HKDA and winning designs from local competitions.

It comprises exhibits with interactive demonstrations of latest designs including graphics, packaging, web-sites, multi-media image, interior and products.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thomas Tang, executive director of HKPC, said innovation and design are key elements for a company to gain a leading edge in today's competitive environment.

It will be an extension of the existing TechMart activities, directed towards emerging local designers, new designs and design services, he added.

The TechMart was established in 2000 in response to the initiative of Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the HKSAR government, to develop Hong Kong into an innovative and creative design center.
