Japanese Insurance Company Opens China Branch

Minsui Marine and Insurance Co. Ltd., the third largest property insurance firm in Japan, has opened its first China branch in Shanghai.

That brings the number of solely foreign funded and Sino- foreign financed insurance companies in Shanghai to 13, of which, two are backed by Japanese investors, said local sources.

Founded in 1918, Minsui Marine and Insurance Co. Ltd. has a 663. 1 billion Japanese yen annual business volume. It has set up representative offices in the seven Chinese cities of Beijing, Dalian, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Chengdu since 1981.
